Dubrovnik
Breakfast was included with the hotel. I had a nice meal before heading back to the room to pack my stuff and check out. I wanted to catch the ferry and travel to Hvar, one of the islands near by. I left my luggage at the hotel and caught the bus back into Old Town. I paused at the tours but after learning the prices opted to do my own tour. I went in and bought a ticket to walk the walls of the city. Not too much walking at a length of 2km or 1.2mi. From that vantage point you have a wonderful view of everything inside the wall…

Kotor and Dubrovnik
On my way home from Cuba my grandma picked me up and we talked about the trip and pictures. She then reminded me (again) that I had never finished posting my pictures from our trip in the summer, mostly because I became distracted by life back in Canada and my new job. I told her I would work on that. Lucky for me I take very detailed notes while I travel and have spent some time fleshing them out to put on my blog, with all the pictures she needs. So now, while I have finished posting about Cuba, I am able to entertain you with the rest of my…

From Relaxing in Cuba to Coming Home to the Cold
The rest of our time in Cuba passed quickly and restfully. One Wednesday, after our late night, we didn’t get up and moving until after 11am. We headed to see Miguel and book ourselves into the Spa for the next afternoon. He told us how the spa worked. There would be a ride at 1:45 for us in the hotel lobby the next day.

Cuban Cave Party
I am good at napping. I had so many naps while I was in Cuba. The great thing about that is it wasn’t hard to fall asleep after a long day on the water. When my alarm went off at 10pm I was rested and ready. Amber on the other hand is not a napper and read while I slept but was unable to sleep herself. We quickly got ready for our night in a cave. Not knowing what it would be like or what we would be like, we decided not to bring phones or purses or anything. This means that there is no photographic evidence of our night…

Sun, Sea, and Catamaran
Today we were both up before the 7:00am alarm. This is because a duck under our window would not shut up at all. It kept honking and honking. I got up to yell at it to shut up and I see three more ducks round the corner of the building coming towards the lonely duck. He then shut up, so I guess he was calling his friends. I went to go get back in bed but the alarm went off right after I got back in. Instead of sleeping some more we got up and packed a bag for the day with water, towels, sunscreen, and a little bit of…

Tale of Two Cities: Ciego de Avila and Moron
Our bus for the two city tour was leaving at 8:10am. We set the alarm to go off at 7am. This would give us time to go and have breakfast and gather our things before we had to be on the bus. At breakfast I used the crêpe station. With cinnamon, sugar and fresh fruit it was a very filling breakfast.

Sunday: Day 1
I woke up around 7:30 local time. Amber was not ready to get up so I typed out the beginning of our travel adventure while she slept for another hour. Around 8:30 we began to get up and find the breakfast buffet. We were pleasantly surprised by the room. It’s large and has a great amount of space around the food stations so you don’t feel crowded or like you will be bumped by others who are passing by.

Rafting
I was up early to get ready for a trip I had signed up for. The hostel had lots of different trips and tours you could sign up for. I decided that I would spend the day rafting. We met in the lobby at 7am. Myself and two others from the hostel went. Along the way the driver stopped at a few vantage points for us to stop and take pictures. We drove for about two hours through the country side. We arrived at the meeting site and restaurant. We stopped to have breakfast.
