Shared Journeys – Ireland and Scotland
I spent the last two weeks sharing an incredible journey with my family. Unfortunately my brother couldn’t get the time off but mom, dad, grandma, and a family friend shared this two week drive through two beautiful countries.
We met in London, their flight landed at 11am(ish) and we checked into the airport hotel. Then it was into town for a day of not knowing where do eat, what to do, or how long things would take.
Early the next day it was get a flight, fly to Belfast and get a rental car. We went to see the Giants Causeway but missed our chance to go to where they fill Winterfell in Game of Thrones due to narrow roads and necessary cautious driving. If your not cautious no one else is on those roads. We returned to Belfast city and proceeded to look and look and look for our hotel.
We returned the Northern Ireland car and took the train to Dublin. In Dublin we rented another car that would carry us around the country for a few days. We went to Blarney, Kerry, and Galway. Then we flew to Glasgow, Scotland.
We timed our trip to Scotland so my dad, who was very patient with the rest of us, could take a day and go to “The Open” at Royal Troon Golf Course and watch the Pro’s play. Then in was into a new rental car to drive north into the Highlands of Scotland.
We went to Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, no sign of Nessie though. Inverness was nice. Aberdeen was modern. Edinburgh was amazing. Then back to Glasgow to return the car and fly to London.
In London we all went to see a show, dad his first one. Mom and grandma want to “Beautiful: The Carol King Story.” The rest of us went to “The Book of Mormon.” Both were good shows.
Then it was back to Canada to return to work (everyone else) and get ready to start a new job (me).
When we returned from this amazing 2 week adventure mom returned the camera I gave her. I have decided to share her pictures here for everyone to enjoy.
