Relaxing on the beach
I decided to spend the day in true relaxing style, I slept in and then looked to the sky. With the promise of sunny weather shown in the cloudless sky I went to the beach. Ulsinj is known for having the longest stretch of beach in Europe, at 12km long. This beach can be reached by car or by walking a cliff top trail about 4km long. If you take the trail you pass the busy city beach and many secluded coves that host nude beaches, both segregated by gender and mixed. Then you enter the shade of trees and bushes broken by beautiful views of the amazing coastline.

13 hours on a Train
I was up early and went to ask about the internet. I had the correct password but it didn’t work for some reason. I wanted to look at the train and the difference between first and second class. But no internet. Now that I’ve taken the train I know the only difference is there are less people in first class, I may have had an individual compartment instead of sharing with 3-5 other people. I went to the train station early in the morning to buy a ticket and grab snacks from the little shop. I was given a ticket with a reserved seat. I got on the train just…

Serbia and Skulls
I set my alarm for 7:30am. I was quickly up and dressed to go to the skull tower before check-out. I found a bakery and bought a sandwich to have for breakfast on the river. I ate half and saved the rest.

Macedonia to Serbia – Travel Day
I had planned to get the 8am bus up to the cross and then come down before check out at 11am. Plans took a turn though when I slept until 9am. Instead I used the internet, checked out and then went up to the fortress, which was small and basic. Then I went back to the hostel to get my bags and caught the bus to Nis, Serbia.

Lake Matka- Macedonia
I was up around 6:30am. I was dressed and out by 7am. I walked around town and once again tried to find the Mother Teresa house. I did not find it but I did find many plaque with her quotes on them. Once it passed ten and I hadn’t found the house and missed the start of the tour I went back to the hostel and packed my day pack with the things I would need to hike and swim.

Kuwait to Macedonia – Closing one door and opening another
On June 21st I finished work at Ajial Bilingual School in Kuwait knowing I would not return. I had had a wonderful two years teaching there but it was time to move forward and carry on with the next chapter in my life. I thought I was going to meet up with a few of the other staff members so we could have dinner together. We were going to do this at 11pm behind security. I didn’t mind going early because it was either sit in the airport or sit in my apartment. I also wasn’t sure how long the drive would take because of Ramadan traffic that late at…

The Midnight Sky in Iceland
Last year I travelled to Iceland with my Mom and Dad during the Summer Solstice. This is the longest day of the year and during this time the sun never sets at Northern Latitudes. This picture was taken just after midnight at Lake Myvatn. It was the lowest the sun ever went. The entire week we were there the sun never set giving us unlimited daylight to drive around and see the amazing things Iceland has to offer. We were lucky to have good weather and a beautiful blue sky. Â
