Macedonia to Serbia – Travel Day

I had planned to get the 8am bus up to the cross and then come down before check out at 11am. Plans took a turn though when I slept until 9am. Instead I used the internet, checked out and then went up to the fortress, which was small and basic. Then I went back to the hostel to get my bags and caught the bus to Nis, Serbia.

    Lake Matka- Macedonia

I was up around 6:30am. I was dressed and out by 7am. I walked around town and once again tried to find the Mother Teresa house. I did not find it but I did find many plaque with her quotes on them. Once it passed ten and I hadn’t found the house and missed the start of the tour I went back to the hostel and packed my day pack with the things I would need to hike and swim.

Kuwait to Macedonia – Closing one door and opening another

On June 21st I finished work at Ajial Bilingual School in Kuwait knowing I would not return. I had had a wonderful two years teaching there but it was time to move forward and carry on with the next chapter in my life. I thought I was going to meet up with a few of the other staff members so we could have dinner together. We were going to do this at 11pm behind security. I didn’t mind going early because it was either sit in the airport or sit in my apartment. I also wasn’t sure how long the drive would take because of Ramadan traffic that late at…

Shared Journeys – Ireland and Scotland

I spent the last two weeks sharing an incredible journey with my family. Unfortunately my brother couldn’t get the time off but mom, dad, grandma, and a family friend shared this two week drive through two beautiful countries. We met in London, their flight landed at 11am(ish) and we checked into the airport hotel. Then it was into town for a day of not knowing where do eat, what to do, or how long things would take.

    Macedonia – Doors

This door, like many of the others in Macedonia has become part of the “Paintball Revolution”. From what I understand, the government is building new buildings and statues. The companies belong to friends of government officials. The companies then launder the money. The people are angry. They are angry that their government is stealing tax money to line their pockets. They are upset the government is building these huge statues without meeting the people’s basic needs with government programs.

    Travel Simply

Sometimes travel is simple. Sometimes it’s not… The first thing you need to know about simple travel is to pack less. Always pack less, you won’t need half the stuff you think you do and you can buy the small stuff almost anywhere. All Inclusive You can choose a resort area, like Mexico, and stay for a week at an all-inclusive resort. You book a week, a flight, and let them do the rest. The hardest thing to plan is if you do an activity or if you lay on the beach that day. I did this once and it was a great experience. You have a bracelet or other…
